Hey Up!
Leo Hicks is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.
Leo's musical journey began when he was very young. His Dad, Grandad and a family band tipped his musical interests before picking up a guitar at age 7. Through his youth, Leo switched from classical guitar to acoustic and began training his voice along the way. At 13, he began playing in the local music scene including surrounding areas, with a mix of unique covers and original music at his gigs, earning a small but dedicated following.
Leo released his debut single at 17, 'Break Of Day,' inspired by tales of his youth and relationships turned south. The single's themes of longing and despair, combined with a spacious and relaxed soundscape, were well-received by fans. The song was then featured on Jehrico Keys' BBC Introducing show on BBC Radio York. Now, at 18, Leo has just released his second single, 'Young And Dumb.' This song contrasts with the ambience of his debut, introducing a gritty rock feel and more forceful lyrics not seen from Hicks before. Leo hopes to showcase his evolution as a songwriter and resonate with listeners on a new level with his new music.

After beginning a new musical journey at University (Leeds Conservatoire) in September 2023, Leo is in the process of writing, crafting and recording his debut EP, for release in 2024.
